Author and teacher Eric Gondree will present a presentation and teaching activities on the afternoon of June 11 (Sunday) at Imaike Library Club.
Building on themes introduced in his presentation last year, Eric will demonstrate examples of activities which can make history lessons more accessible and interesting. A key concept is ‘Historical Thinking,’ a term encompassing different ways to analyze historical evidence and understand historical narratives. The presentation isn’t just for history buffs: anyone who likes critical thinking, reading and learning is welcome to join.
Eric is the author of Journey to America Today, a textbook for English learners which focuses on teaching language through the unfolding narrative of U.S. history and culture through time. The themes of the book are continuity, change and conflict from prehistoric eras until the start of the 21st century. Attendees will also have a chance to see copies of the textbook during the event.
Space is limited to 10 seats per session. Please RSVP early to ensure your seat. Multiple sessions may be created based on demand. This event is open to library members and non-members, so feel free to send the sign-up link to anyone whom you think would be interested.

This is an English-speaking event, but we encourage participation by English learners of any level. This will be a good opportunity to discuss ESL/EFL, L2 language learning, and history in an open and friendly environment.
The event is free of charge, but donations of ¥500 will be accepted for the upkeep and maintenance of the library. Free coffee will be provided.
