Hello, my name is Richard and I haven’t bought a book for two days. Ahhh scrap that, I bought the booker prize 2019 ‘Other Women’ a few hours ago, I forgot about that. My friend Nathan has a similar problem but he buys boxes of books, so perhaps he really needs help. We are book addicts and perhaps suffer from Tsundoku too. Tsundoku is the art of buying new books with previously newly bought books unread at home lying around. We love reading them, but we also love buying them. We probably will never get round to reading all the books we buy and it would be a shame if they went unread. We also both live in Nagoya, Japan, where a brand new English book would set you back at least 2000yen. We thought this is a lot of money if we keep up with our lack of self-control. So one of us, or organically arriving at the same time was what if we open a library. A library that promotes community, particularly a reading community where our purchases and finds will finally be read. A place where people can get books, meet people and save money. Imaike Library Club was thought of as a title and the idea was born, We just needed a location, a room and some shelves…
